It all makes sense.

Fans of the hit drama, It’s Okay Not To Be Okay will know that the final episodes are out this coming weekend. As the drama draws to a close, fans are getting antsy as to the real identity of Do Hui Jae. Drama Hyung on YouTube speculated that the head nurse was in fact, not really Do Hui Jae, Ko Moon Young‘s estranged, psychotic murdered of a mother. This theory stemmed from the title of the last episode – “The Father of A Tale of Two Sisters”. As you would have noticed, each episode is titled after a fairytale, and it eludes to the ongoings of the episodes. For example, the week before’s was “Romeo & Juliet”. There, Kang Tae and Moon Young are star-crossed lovers as he pushes her away again and again.

What exactly is A Tale of Two Sisters? A Korean fairytale, it is about two siblings, Janghwa and Hongryeon, who are abused by their stepmother. Soon, elder daughter Janghwa was killed by her stepmother, and Hongryeon soon followed suit voluntarily. Later on, the two enacted revenge as they wanted to redress Janghwa’s wrongful death. Drama Hyung infers, that the head nurse is then, not Do Hui Jae, but her sister instead.

In a Korean horror classic based on A Tale of Two Sisters, the movie adaptation has the younger sister undergoing dissociative identity disorder, often thinking she is her older sister instead. Drama Hyung thus theorizes that the head nurse thinks she is Do Hui Jae, and thus becomes possessive over everything Do Hui Jae “owns”, including Moon Young and Ko Dae Hwan. This would explain why the glass is shattered over Do Hui Jae’s face in the picture.

This explains why Moon Young said that she could not recognize the head nurse as her mother, even if plastic surgery was done. Drama Hyung further claims that the head nurse had framed the original Do Hui Jae for the murders, in order to more perfectly take over her life. This would also explain why Moon Young has happy and warm memories of her mother, in addition to chilling and possessive ones. Perhaps Moon Young got confused between her real mother and her aunt, the head nurse.

Drama Hyung also points out this chilling scene, where Moon Young recalls how her father had tried to strangle her. It can be seen that there is a man behind Ko Dae Hwan, who perhaps is the one to save Moon Young by pulling her father off her before she gets strangled to death. Who is this man? Drama Hyung speculates it to be Director Oh of the hospital.
