Meet Kim Min Seo, The Sassy Child Actress, From K-Drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”

Does Oh Ju Ri look familiar? You’ve probably been watching her for years.

While there’s a lot of talented child actors in K-Dramas, few go recognized. Still, some grow up to become future leads!

Kim So Hyun, known for roles in Love Alarm and River Where The Moon Rises, first began acting when she was just a kid. Now, she’s a leading lady in some of the most popular K-Dramas.

Now, we suspect a new child actress will follow in her footsteps as she continues to rise in fame with more and more roles in K-Dramas and movies.

Meet Kim Min Seo (also known as Minseo and Minss)!

If you’re a fan of Netflix and tvN‘s Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, a.k.a. our current comfort series, you may recognize the 12-year-old actress as the hilariously sassy and spunky daughter of Oh Chun Jae/Oh Yoon, played by the always iconic Jo Han Chul. But just where have you seen her before?

Well, on Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, she’s a fangirl of the fictional boy group DOS, featuring rookie actor Byun Seong Tae as Jun. She’s honestly the most relatable character.

In real life, she is a fan of the beloved solo artist and actress IU!

Minseo might look especially familiar because she is a regular cast member on the popular YouTube variety show ODG. Their tagline is “You were a kid once,” so it focuses on kids and adults enlightening one another on various topics.

ODG often has celebrity guest stars, such as NCT, SHINee, iKON‘s Bobby, and Red Velvet‘s Wendy (just to name a few). Despite meeting celebrities almost every day, Minseo remains cool, calm, and collected (quite the opposite of her Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha character).

So, the show’s staff wondered if there was anyone that would make her starstruck. That’s when she revealed just how big of a fan of IU she is!

Naturally, IU found out about her young fan, and with the release of Lilac, she guested on the show. But it was a surprise for the young actress, and she was even told to remain calm no matter who the guest was! That’s when she truly proved how great of an actress she is!

Thankfully, they ended up letting her be herself soon enough, and she was able to share a heartfelt moment with her idol. IU, also being an actress, was able to connect with her young fan truly.

They formed a lifelong connection as IU even recently sent Minseo her first-ever coffee truck during the filming of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha! How sweet is this friendship? Kim Min Seo is truly a successful fan!

While Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and ODG are where most people commonly know her, Kim Min Seo has been acting for a few years now, as she started when she was just 8 years old and started attending acting classes.

After that, she soon got acting roles, beginning with short films at the age of 9. Minseo credits her first role in the short film Seul-eh from Wonderland.

According to different sources, her first major acting role is as early as 2011 in the role of Geum Ok‘s niece in the movie Sunny. Other websites say it was for KBS‘s 2017 K-Drama Dal-Soon’s Spring.

Since her acting debut, she’s had many small roles in K-Dramas and movies. She played the slash-and-burn farmers’ land kid in 2019 film Jesters: The Game Changers. In the same year, she played the young Lee Gyung Jin in Maggie.

She was an extra as a girl in front of a tavern in 2020 release The Swordsman. Now, she has a supporting role as Ji Ho‘s daughter in the 2021 romance New Year Blues.

Most frequently, you can see her in K-Dramas. Like most child actors, she played the younger version of the lead, Esom‘s character in Save Me 2 in 2019.

Recently, she appeared in My Wonderful Life as Lim Se Ra and as the child version of Jung Myung Hee in Delayed Justice.

Her most recent role is in KBS’s new controversial K-Drama Young Lady and a Gentleman as the younger version of Lee See Hee‘s character.

She acts not just on camera. Like most actors, she’s done theatre as well.

Besides acting, she’s also a model. She models for a variety of brands, including, recently, Jeep Kids.

She acts in commercials, too, from everything to cosmetics to even plastic surgery (she’s not proud of that one). As you can see, she can do everything!

She has her own Instagram account (@actress_minseo), run by her mom, of course! They frequently share behind-the-scenes photos of her latest projects.

In addition to ODG, she has her own personal YouTube channel called MinssTV. She posts lots of unique content, especially in regards to acting.

While we expect a lifelong successful acting career for Kim Min Seo, she has even bigger plans. In the future, she hopes to be a director too!

My first goal is to get some credit for my acting from my supporters. In fact, [the] ultimate goal is to be an Oscar-winning director. Of course, it will also be good to be an Oscar-winning actress. These are my dreams.
