In early 2021, JYP Entertainment announced that the members of GOT7 would not be renewing their contracts. Despite the members signing with different companies, they have said they didn’t disband and will continue releasing music.
In an interview with THE STAR MAGAZINE, Jay B (formerly known as JB) spoke about leaving JYP Entertainment and the conversation he had with the GOT7 members.
In the interview, Jay B was asked how he felt when deciding to leave JYP Entertainment.
Jay B wanted to be careful with his answer since he didn’t want it to sound like he was saying bad things about his former company.
Jay B shared that at that time, the members had to look at JYP Entertainment’s situation and the situations that would help GOT7.
In the end, everyone had a “different stance,” and the GOT7 members decided not to renew their contracts with JYP Entertainment.
JYP Entertainment heartwarmingly told GOT7 that they could do what they wanted, thanked them, and said they would support their future.
The GOT7 members also thanked JYP Entertainment for everything they had done for them.
When asked what he talked about with the other members during this process, Jay B shared that he said something along the lines of, “So, what you wanna do?”
The other members said they wanted to continue, but Jay B told them, “Do a team if you want to do this passionately and don’t do it if you just want to be in a team. ”
After talking, the GOT7 members all agreed that they wanted to continue!
