BTS’s Meaningful “Yet To Come” Lyrics – Everything You Might Have Missed

The last reference is from a hidden track that some ARMY might not know!

BTS have finally released their long-awaited comeback PROOF, and the anthology album is everything that ARMY had been hoping for.

The title track in particular, “Yet To Come,” is leaving fans an emotional wreck as they notice all the different parallels from BTS’s older music videos.

But, as always with BTS, the lyrics, written by RM, Suga, and J-Hope, are not only incredibly emotional…

But they symbolize BTS’s incredible journey as artists, following their passion and love for music rather than their search for fame or accolades.

That uncomfortable title we were given one day. We are still abashed by being called the best. You know, I, I just love music. Nothing much has changed from back then.

The emotional lyrics focus on BTS’s present and their conflicting feelings while grappling with the immense success that they’ve achieved.

They talk about the “uncomfortable title” of “being called the best.”

Not sure since when, but they say we’re the best. Full of these unfamiliar names, now they just feel heavy.

And how their focus has never been on these accomplishments.

We ain’t about it. The world’s expectations. We ain’t about it. That step of being the best. We ain’t about it. Crowns and flowers, countless trophies. We ain’t about it. Dream and hope, and goin’ forward. We ain’t about it.

But instead, BTS focus on their past and future, explaining that throughout their journey, “Nothing much has changed.” They are still just as in love with music as they were when they started.

I’m still the same, a new chapter. Every moment is my new best. Like I’m thirteen years old again. Spittin’ bars just like I did back then, huh.

BTS combine their past, present, and future to express that they’re still running forward for their love of music and will continue to do so.

We just loved music. We’re just running forward. Promise that we’ll keep on comin’ back for more.

Although PROOF is an anthology album that highlights BTS’s past journey, the members take the opportunity to promise fans that this is still just the beginning of their journey.

Uh, this is only the beginning, the best yet to come.

That despite all of the music they’ve released, they still haven’t achieved all that they plan to with ARMY at their side.

Yeah, the past was honestly the best (The best). But my best is what comes next (But my best is what comes next, yeah). We’ll be singin’ till the morn. Heading towards (Towards) the day more like ourselves (Like). You and I, best moment is yet to come.

RM, Suga, and J-Hope only extend the emotional impact of “Yet To Come” with their lyricism as they reference their past songs, just like in the music video.

There are obvious references to BTS’s debut song “No More Dream,” where in both “No More Dream” and “Yet To Come,” BTS are continually asked about their dreams, rejecting the idea that they must have one to be successful.

What is your dream? (What is?) Is your dream just that?

Uh, do you have a dream? What’s at the end of that path?

There are also allusions to their iconic title track, “Run,” where BTS details the key to their success as their constant running forward in both songs.

The reason behind Bangtan’s success? I don’t know if there’s something like that. All of us just run hard. No matter what, we just run. That’s the answer, ha-ha-ha.

We just loved music. We’re just running forward. Promise that we’ll keep on comin’ back for more.

BTS’s love for music is the focus of “Black Swan,” which depicts what happens when an artist starts to lose their passion. In “Black Swan,” BTS see themselves as a direct link to their passion.

I’m in my workroom, it’s my studio. The darkness go darkly in a throe. But I’ll never get dragged away again. Inside, I saw myself, myself.

And that same sense of self being the core of their passion for music is referenced in “Yet To Come,” with the idea of their inner child being the one who has always loved music and always will.

Somewhere deep inside your heart. There still lives a young boy. My-y-y-y moment is yet to come. Yet to come.

Jin‘s solo song, “Awake,” is also seemingly referenced in “Yet To Come.” In “Awake,” Jin wonders whether or not he’ll ever be able to “touch the sky.” Regardless, deciding that he’ll never give up on trying.

May I, I can never fly. I can’t fly like the flower petals over there. Or as though I have wings, yeah. Maybe I, I can’t touch the sky. Still, I want to stretch my hang out. I want to run, just a bit more.

And in “Yet To Come,” Jin seems to have his answer, with RM promising that all of them together will “touch the sky.”

Uh, in the hush of night, we won’t stop moving. Yet to come. Uh, we gonna touch the sky, ‘fore the day we die.

Similarly, BTS’s emotional track “2! 3! (Still Wishing For More Good Days)” shows the members hoping that there are better days in the future that they can share with ARMY.

1, 2, 3. Hoping that everything will change. For a better day. Because we are together.

-BTS’s “2! 3! (Still Wishing For More Good Days)” via Genius English Lyrics

And they seem to have found hope for those better days in “Yet To Come,” showing their confidence in enjoying their future.

Yeah, the past was honestly the best (The best). But my best is what comes next (But my best is what comes next, yeah). We’ll be singin’ till the morn. Heading towards (Towards) the day more like ourselves (Like). You and I, best moment is yet to come.

There is also a direct reference to BTS’s hidden track “Road” (also known as “Path”), which was included exclusively in the CD for their debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool.

In the chorus of “Road,” BTS wonders about the path that they’re on and what they might see when they reach “the end of this road.”

If I had chosen a different path, would have I been any different? If I stopped and looked back (Oh hey ya, hey ya). What will I see at the end of this road? Where you should’ve been standing? (Oh hey ya, hey ya)

-BTS’s “Road” via Genius English Translations

And as if to solidify the idea that BTS is still just at their beginning, still planning on running much further, with ARMY at their side, in “Yet To Come,” they are still wondering what the end of their path entails.

Uh, do you have a dream? What’s at the end of that path?
