[★TRENDING] Taylor Swift accused of allegedly copying 2NE1’s “Come Back Home” MV

In the midst of her feud with Nicki Minaj, a fan has pointed out that Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” shares a lot of similar and familiar scenes with 2NE1‘s 2014 hit track and its music video, “Come Back Home.”

Not familiar with the current Taylor Swift-Nicki Minaj Twitter feud?  Here’s a quick recap:

On July 21st, Nicki Minaj voiced out about her music video “Anaconda” being snubbed from being nominated at this year’s MTV‘s VMAs, or Video Music Awards, for Video of The Year even though it broke a music video record of most clicked in 24 hours with 19.6 million views when it was released.

She wrote on Twitter, “If I was a different ‘kind’ of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well. When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination. If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year. I’m not always confident. Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it.”

Taylor Swift, whose “Bad Blood” music video broke Nicki Minaj’s mentioned record above with 20.1 million views and was also nominated at the VMAs for Video of the Year, responded and said, “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..”

But Nicki Minaj, confused, replied, “Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this.”

So now that we’re caught up, a Twitter user tweets to Nicki Minaj and points out the similar scenes found in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” (May 2015) and 2NE1’s “Come Back Home” (March 2014), sharing said captures of both  music videos side by side, writing, “Can we talk about how Taylor’s video isn’t original and was copied from a group of four WOC, 2NE1.”

Thus, the debate of whether Taylor Swift plagiarized 2NE1’s music video rose.

Watching the two music videos, they both have their own distinct storyline with “Bad Blood” featuring Taylor Swift as a secret agent betrayed by Selena Gomez, whom she eventually faces off against in the end.

On the other hand, “Come Back Home” tells the story of a future in which the people would rather live in a virtual reality then the real world. The members of 2NE1 band together to rebel against the virtual and fake world.

Korean-American Joseph Kahn is credited as the director of “Bad Blood.” He has been in the business for 15 years and has shot well-known music videos such as Destiny Child‘s “Jumpin Jumpin,” Backstreet Boys‘ “Backstreet’s Back,” and more.

Jezebel the Muse therefore notes“In November, he spoke with the Korea Times about getting back to his ‘Korean roots,’ and that he ‘pay[s] full attention to what’s going on in my field, it’s my job.’ It seems highly unlikely that any storied, thorough music video director would have missed a high-profile video from arguably K-pop’s most celebrated girl groups.”

Watch the two music videos below and make your own conclusion. Is the storyboard to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” the same as 2NE1’s “Come Back Home”?
