Taeyeon Calls Out Audition Contestant For Claiming She Trained To Debut With Girls’ Generation

Taeyeon won’t stand for fakers trying to leech off Girls’ Generation’s hard work.

During the audition program, titled Voice Queen, a 32-year-old woman appeared on the show and revealed that she almost debuted as a member of Girls’ Generation.

Hong Min Ji claimed that she was a trainee under SM Entertainment 17 years ago. Considering how Girls’ Generation debuted in 2007, she was with SM about 5 years before the group’s debut.

She explained that she cried when Girls’ Generation debuted because she believed she should’ve been one of the members.

When I saw Girls’ Generation debut, I honestly cried. I thought, ‘My place was right there!’

— Hong Min Ji

Over a decade since she left SM Entertainment, she got the courage to perform once again on stage after her husband gave her the loving support to fulfill her dream.

My husband told me that he wanted me to try once more. He told me he wanted to see me fulfill my dream on stage at least once.

He submitted my application, and I was given this chance.

— Hong Min Ji

After Hong Min Ji’s story was widely spread online, Taeyeon decided to clarify her thoughts on the story. Taeyeon called Hong Min Ji out for falsely claiming she almost debuted with the group.

Unless you manipulate the members’ memories somehow or have actually worked hard and sweat with us, I wish people would stop bringing up Girls’ Generation’s name so easily.

It makes us uncomfortable.

Taeyeon reiterated that the members had worked so hard and overcome so many obstacles to get to where they are today, and it is disrespectful for people who were even near SM Entertainment to claim they almost made the group, when in fact, they hadn’t trained with the members once.

The eight of us put everything on the line and worked as hard as we can in order to debut under the name Girls’ Generation. We’re not a group that was made in a day.

It’s true that we had to work towards creating the best synergy between members, but we went through so much together before the public even knew about us.

And Taeyeon’s words ring true as many claim they almost made it to Girls’ Generation for the clout and 5 seconds of fame.
