PRODUCE X 101 Reveals Official Contract Details For The Final Group

It’s going to be a long time.

Mnet has confirmed the contract details for the new boy group that will be formed through PRODUCE X 101.

An official from Mnet confirmed the exact breakdown of the contract, which will last a whopping 5 years long.

“The group that is formed through PRODUCE X 101 will promote exclusively as a group for the first 2 years and 6 months of the contract. The remaining 2 years and 6 months after that, the members are allowed to promote with their original companies, alongside continuing promotions with the PRODUCE X 101 group.”

In short, a trainee can only promote with PRODUCE X 101 for the first half of their contract length. In the second half, the trainee can promote with their original company, like how Sejeong and Mina returned to gugudan during I.O.I promotions, while also promoting with PRODUCE X 101.

This contract is a huge increase from the previous Produce series contracts. I.O.I received a contract that was 8 months long. Wanna One‘s contract lasted for 17 months, and IZ*ONE‘s contract is 30 months (2 years and 6 months). This means that the PRODUCE X 101 group’s contract will be double the length of the previous longest contract!

While there have been no trainees officially announced to be joining the show yet, there have been rumors flying about which contestants from both Produce 101 Season 2 and other audition programs joining the show.

In addition, it was revealed that Plan A Entertainment‘s boy group VICTON did indeed have discussions about some of the members joining the show, but in the end, the decision was that the members would not appear.

What we do know, though, is that the trainees who have been accepted into joining the program will begin dorming together in early March, which means preview pictures of the trainees will begin appearing!
