A trainee who competed on Produce 101 Season 2 has received a 1 year suspended sentence for threatning and injuring his ex-girlfriend.

According to a report from the justice system to Sports Chosun, a former Produce 101 Season 2 trainee who is currently signed under an agency was sentenced to two years probation and 80 hours of community service, with 1 year in prison if he violates probation.

The former trainee broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house through the veranda when his ex-girlfriend refused to meet up with him. After an investigation, it was determined that the former trainee threatened his ex-girlfriend with a weapon while demanding that they continue to date. When he was rejected again, he became furious and attempted to strangle her, leading to an injury that took 2 weeks to heal. The investigation also noted that a neighbor rang the doorbell after hearing the ex-girlfriend scream, and the trainee threatened his ex-girlfriend again, implying that she shouldn’t scream or else something will happen.

The victim seems to have suffered great shock and pain and the defendant has not been forgiven by the victim.

We considered that the defendant has confessed to the crime, which appears to have been impulsive, and that he was a first-time offender with no criminal record.
