Kim Soo Min Crowned Winner Of “Miss Korea 2018”

The 22-year-old beauty has set a new standard for beauty in Korea!

Kim Soo Min, the 22-year-old Miss Gyeonggi, was crowned the winner of the 2018 Miss Korea

The 2018 Miss Korea Pageant was held at the Olympic Park Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul on July 4.

The glamorous young woman was not only selected as the most beautiful among the final 32 contestants, she was also the recipient of $90,000 USD in prize money!

Kim Soo Min received $45,000 USD in prize money for winning the pageant as well as another $45,000 in scholarship.

Kim Soo Min is a student at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania majoring in international management, whose dream is to become an international reporter.

Meanwhile, her achievement may hint at the changing trends of how Korea perceives beauty.

At 173.4cm (5’6″) tall and weighing 58.9 kg (131 lbs) Kim Soo Min actually falls under the shorter and heavier side compared to previous winners of the same beauty pageant.

The winner of the 2017 Miss Korea, Seo Jae Won, was 175.2cm (5’7″) and 54kg (119 lbs) while the 2016 Miss Korea winner, Kim Jin Sol, was 177.2cm (5’8″) and 53.2kg (117 lbs).

Moreover, the Miss Korea Pageant now only indicates the contestants’ height and weight and no longer reveals the bust, waist and hip measurements, further confirming these changing trends.

And seeing that this year’s winner is just as stunning as any of the previous winners, it seems that this trend is heading towards the right direction! Congratulations, Kim Soo Min!
