BTS Reveals The Challenges They Faced In Trying To Create An All-English Song

This could be the bop of the summer!

BTS is making their return exactly 6 months since the release of their MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 album that dropped on February 21. What’s different about this single is that it is their first track that is all in English. Although they have used some English in their tracks before, this is a totally different challenge for the members.

Debuting in 2013, this group has continuously taken on new challenges and have changed the paradigm of K-Pop. From hitting the number one spot on Billboard to performing at the Grammys, singing in full English is just another challenge they have accepted.

In an interview with USA Today, they revealed that it was hard to get out of their comfort zone and focus on their English pronunciation. Jungkook revealed that it was “an interesting kind of challenge that was ‘fun hard’.”

A year ago, they mentioned in an interview that they had no plans to sing in English as they didn’t want to stray away from their identity. But in 2020, no one knew that a pandemic would happen. This made them realize that things change and that we have to do what we can.

Suga revealed, “This pandemic is something that is affecting everyone in the world and so we thought about what we would do during this time.”

RM added, “Who ever thought a pandemic would happen? No meetings, no concerts. So we never thought we would create a song fully in English.”

With a full-English song, this could play a huge role in making it a number one hit in the U.S. In regards to more English songs, V tells fans to “don’t not look forward to it.”
