If BTS‘s members are all multi-millionaires, just how wealthy is the man who started it all?
In 2022, 49-year-old Bang Si Hyuk is one of the world’s richest music moguls. He entered the entertainment industry in the 1990s as a producer, composer, and arranger known as Hitman Bang. Prior to launching his own company, Bang Si Hyuk co-created music with Park Jin Young, for Park’s agency, JYP Entertainment.
Bang Si Hyuk’s net worth has been on the rise since BTS debuted in 2013, but he shot up to billionaire status after taking HYBE public in an IPO in 2020.
Now, Bang Si Hyuk has once again made Forbes‘ annual ranking of the world’s richest billionaires, who are collectively worth $12.7 trillion. In 2021, he ranked at #1362. This year, he jumped 309 spots and is coming in at #1053 on the list.
Bang Si Hyuk’s net worth of $2.9 billion is tied with 30+ other billionaires on the list, including Yoo Jung Hyun, who owns a 14% stake in Nexon, the gaming company behind MapleStory. Her late husband, Kim Jung Joo, is the founder of Nexon.
