GOT7 Bambam is receiving a lot of heat from international fans after he was captured using an inappropriate racial slur during a family party.
Following the completion of their Los Angeles 2-day concert stop on July 10th and 11th, group member Mark‘s father reportedly held a pool party for the group with Mark’s friends and family. However, a video of GOT7’s Bambam that was taken at the event has become incredibly controversial.
In one Snapchat video uploaded by a guest at the event and later uploaded to YouTube by fans, Bambam was heard the “N word”. Fans have claimed that he had only used the term, unknowing of the history behind it, after an acquaintance at the party claimed it meant “bro (brother).” However, many American fans have expressed their anger towards the singer and are demanding an apology, while others have claimed that they would no longer support Bambam.
On July 15th, Bambam uploaded a video to bid Los Angeles goodbye. Now aware of the hundreds if not thousands of posts regarding the Snapchat video, he leaves a sincere apology in the comment section which fans have captured and spread. It reads, “I want to say I’m sorry for what I’ve done. And I know this is all my mistake. I don’t want to stay quiet like this. I’ll do something when I get back to Korea, I promise. I’m sorry for making a lot of you guys upset. This is my fault. I’m sorry.”
Fellow GOT7 member Yugyeom has also come under fire for seemingly being the influence of alcohol at the party. While he is above the legal drinking age in South Korea, the legal drinking age in the United States is 21, causing some fans to berate Yugyeom for underage drinking.
