BLACKPINK‘s Rosé is a guest cast member of JTBC‘s Sea of Hope.
Along with fellow celebrities, she unwinds by helping run a seaside bar. She also showcases her lovely vocals through several covers. Check them out below!
1. Slow Dancing In A Burning Room
First up, Rosé made headlines with her performance of John Mayer‘s “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room” (2006). Her performance was so good, it caught the attention of the original singer himself. He even sent her a baby pink guitar in thanks!
2. Because I Love You
Rosé covered “Because I Love You” (1987) by Yoo Jae Ha on the third episode of Sea of Hope. She casually sat outside while singing, the sun giving her a warm glow that set the calm mood.
The BLACKPINK member later commented that it was an emotional performance because she thought of her parents while singing.
I thought a lot about how I should sing this song…when I heard the lyrics, I thought of my parents. I think I understand the love of my parents when I listen to this song.
3. The Only Exception
Can you say “honey-like vocals” once more? When Rosé sings iconic English songs, we can’t help but fall for her even more. Her version of Paramore‘s “The Only Exception” (2009) was a prime example of this.
We’re lucky to have Rosé in our lives! She and SHINee‘s Onew sang “Lucky” (2008) by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, and it was a duet we didn’t know we needed. Their sweet voices complemented each other perfectly.
5. If I Ain’t Got You
If the K-Pop industry didn’t have Rosé, they’d be sorely missing out. She reminded everyone that she’s the main vocalist of a top girl group for a reason when she sang Alicia Keys‘ 2003 hit song “If I Ain’t Got You” with Onew and AKMU‘s Suhyun.
6. BONUS: River Flows In You
Finally, as a bonus, Rosé played Yiruma‘s “River Flows In You” (2001) on the piano while her castmates prepared food before her. Though she didn’t sing, the atmosphere she created was encouraging and calming just like usual.
