15 K-Pop Idols Who Bravely Underwent Serious Surgeries

Thank goodness they’re all better now!

When it comes to K-Pop surgeries, many people’s minds instantly think of cosmetic treatments. However, there are actually several idols who had to undergo serious and medically necessary surgeries to become the healthy, happy idols they are today.

#1. Suga (BTS)

Back in BTS’s rookie days, Suga found himself suffering from serious stomach pains while promoting in Japan. He went to the hospital the next day and found out he had appendicitis. Bravely, Suga endured the plane through a flight back to Korea to receive appendix surgery.

#2. DK (SEVENTEEN)

During one episode of SEVENTEEN Project, SEVENTEEN’s DK revealed that he couldn’t keep up with practice because his ear surgery.

#3. Lee Know (Stray Kids)

When Stray Kids Lee Know was a child, he had to undergo stomach surgery. As a result, he still has the scar.

#4. Lee Hangyul (H&D)

When former X1 member H&D’s Lee Hangyul was a child, he caught his hand in a door while he was playing. His hand ended up badly broken, and he had to have surgery to fix it.

#5. Hwall (The Boyz)

Former The Boyz member Hwall was unable to participate in promotions for The Start in 2018 because he had to have surgery on his leg. The surgery was performed to address his posterior tibial tendon dysfunction and required a three-month recovery period.

Back in August 2019, VIXX’s Hyuk began feeling discomfort in his eye. After visiting the hospital, he was diagnosed with retinal detachment and had to undergo eye surgery.

After fans in Jakarta carelessly mobbed SHINee at the airport, Jonghyun suffered an injury to his left ankle. In January 2011, he had surgery to correct it.

After suffering badly from carpal tunnel syndrome, AOA’s Jimin had to have corrective surgery.

#9. Kyuhyun (Super Junior)

In 2016, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun had to take a break from the group’s activities after undergoing surgery to treat his vocal cord nodules.

Groupmate Leeteuk also had to have surgery. In 2018, he went through emergency surgery for gallbladder issues.

Back in 2014, Dal Shabet’s Woohee suffered a sudden collapsed lung and had to undergo emergency surgery. And it wasn’t the first time—she received the same surgery for the same health problem in 2010, before she debuted.

Taecyeon was so determined to serve as an active soldier during his military enlistment, he went through two back surgeries to improve his health and fitness.

Before The Rose’s Jaehyeong debuted, he had to have surgery because of problems with his lungs.

While Soojin from upcoming girl group Weeekly was a contestant on MIXNINE, she suffered stomach trauma in a car accident and had to receive surgery.

While filming a drama in Thailand in 2017, f(x)’s Victoria fell seriously ill and had to be flown to China to receive surgery.
