Currently promoting his debut album Redingray, Dynamic Duo‘s Gaeko is the next artist to share his favorite songs and artists on 1theK‘s MelOn Playlist.
Gaeko’s playlist of his personal favorite tracks consisted of quite a variety of artists, consisting of “Big Dusty” by Joey Bada$$, “Hey Baby” by Crush eaturing Zion.T, “Walk On By” by Isaac Hayes, “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway, “Kick In The Door” by The Notorious B.I.G, “The Message” by Nas, “Ex-Factor” by Lauryn Hill, and “Make My” by The Roots featuring Big K.R.I.T, proving that as an artist, his influences comes not just from hip hop, but also from a range of 70’s soul, to East Coast hip hop, to good old R&B.
It is clear that Gaeko has a deep musical connection to these songs through the way he analyses each and breaks them down, just to build them back up into his own interpretation. It really reaches out to the audience and creates an intimate bond of sorts, through the sharing of such personal information.
Gaeko recently made his debut as a solo artist, achieving all-kill status with “No Makeup” immediately upon release. Despite 12 of his album’s tracks were deemed unsuitable for broadcast by KBS, the enormous love he is receiving upon his album’s release is so overwhelming that he even ended up donning an imperial moustache on the encore stage of his first music show win.
